Do you love to read? Book Club is a great way to spend an hour with other kids who share your love of books! We meet once a month, October through April. Each month will feature a different book and you can register one month at a time. Activities, discussion, and snacks will round out the evening!
For January, readers may choose one of these two classic adventures:
Hatchet by Gary Paulsen - After a harrowing plane crash, thirteen-year-old Brian is alone in the Canadian wilderness with nothing but his clothing, a tattered windbreaker, and the hatchet his mother had given him as a present. He uses his instincts and his hatchet to stay alive for fifty-four harrowing days. This survival story will keep you turning the pages! (from Amazon.com)
My Side of the Mountain by Jean Craighead George - Twelve-year-old Sam Gribley is terribly unhappy at home. One day—armed with just a penknife, a ball of red cord, forty dollars, some flint and steel, and the clothes on his back—he decides to run away to his grandfather’s abandoned farm, to live in the woods all by himself. He'll have to rely on his own ingenuity and the resources of the great outdoors to survive. (from Amazon.com)
