Build strength and flexibility along with a calmer mind in this gentle yoga class with instructor Amy Louise. Amy has been teaching yoga for 5 years and is experienced in accessible yoga for all abilities.

Celebrate and exercise your freedom to read at our Banned Book Club, where we read a variety of nationally banned and challenged books.

Toddler Tales is an interactive program between parents/caregivers and their children ages 18 months to 3.5 years.  Enjoy 30 minutes of stories, songs, signs and rhymes with your little ones.

The Westland Public Library offers a delivery service for Westland residents who are confined to their homes.

Come practice speaking English! Each week tutors from the Plymouth-Canton Literacy Council will lead the group in informal conversations designed to practice your knowledge of English. 

The Library's Board of Trustees meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 6:00 pm. Board meetings are held at the library and are open to the general public.

Back by popular demand, come to the library to create your very own sourdough starter in this hands-on workshop!

Grades 3-8

For beginners and experienced players in 3rd-8th grade. Bring your own chess set or use one of ours.  No registration required.

Teens in grades 7-12 are invited to join our Teen Advisory Board (TAB). We meet virtually/in person once a month to discuss library programs, online resources, and popular trends.

Preschoolers ages 3.5 - 5 yrs. old, who are not yet in Kindergarten, can attend an independent storytime designed especially for them.

The Detroit Institute of Arts is providing free round-trip transportation from the Public Library of Westland to the DIA for a chance to explore the museum with a self-guided tour.

"Be the Artist" in this program where we will create fun art pieces based on some of our favorite picture book illustrations!  Ages 4-Grade 1. Parents are encouraged to stay and help their child during the program.

Bring your own book (or magazine, or newspaper, etc.)! This book club has no assigned book, reading deadlines, or traditional discussion. Bring your own reading material and enjoy the company of fellow readers.
