Human trafficking is the recruitment and/or transportation of persons through force, fraud, or coercion. Human trafficking occurs when someone in a position of power exploits an individual in a vulnerable situation, typically for financial gain. In partnerships with the Northwest Wayne County Zonta Club, Dr. Laura Starzynski will present a lecture and discussion of the realities of human trafficking in Metro Detroit, dispelling myths of human trafficking and giving information on what to look for in our communities and what to do if we suspect it is happening.
Zonta is a leading global organization of individuals working together to build a better world for women and girls. Dr. Starzynski is a professor in the Criminology and Criminal Justice Department at Wayne State University. This talk also qualifies for CME credit on human trafficking.
