A solar eclipse will take place on April 8, and the Westland Public Library is offering ways to safely view it. The total solar eclipse will move across the United States from Texas to Maine. In Westland, we will see a 99% partial eclipse with the maximum eclipse occurring at 3:13 p.m.
Watch a live feed of the total eclipse from NASA indoors at the library from 1 to 4 p.m. Outside, watch the partial eclipse safely. Light refreshments will be provided. The library will be offering free solar eclipse viewing glasses beginning Monday, March 25 while supplies last. Glasses are limited to one pair per person. Please note that looking at the sun without protection can cause serious eye damage.
