Program Description

Event Details

The defeat of Nazi Germany in early 1945 was a cause for celebration after nearly six years of a war that ravaged Europe. In towns and cities across the world, people rushed into the streets to celebrate. But the Allied nations' victory in Europe was not an end to the conflict, nor was it an end to the impact on people's lives.

Decades of international rivalry, the Cold War, and the political, social, and economic repercussions of the Second World War were felt long after Germany and Japan surrendered. Join us as we honor the sacrifices and contributions made by soldiers and civilians during World War II, while also acknowledging the lasting consequences of a war that the world is still grappling with today.
