This once-a-month class is a creative writing course as suitable for beginners as it is for intermediate writers. The goal is to be exposed to readings, lessons, and craft-sharpening exercises that expand reading as well as writing horizons. This is specifically a fiction class. Readings and instruction will cover everything from literary fiction and classics to science fiction, fantasy, horror, and other genres, and include works ranging in size from microfiction (250 words or less) to novelettes (7,501 – 19,000 words).
This class will include submitting crafted work to be read and discussed by peers and instructor. This can be intimidating, but don’t worry. Everyone will do it, and it’ll all be done in a supportive, friendly way.
The course will be taught by Storm Humbert, an award-winning local author whose fiction has appeared in magazines and anthologies published all over the world. He has published flash fiction and novelettes in genres ranging from literary fiction to science fiction and fantasy. He is where he is today because he had the good fortune to encounter a string of fantastic teachers and mentors who changed his life, so he would like to pay that good fortune forward to anyone interested in learning what he has to teach.
